Secondary practice
Research guidance, tutoring and editing
How we help you learn and improve
- 01
Research & proposal guidance
One-to-one sessions to frame research questions, test a proposal's feasibility and plan the work. You write the proposal; we question, advise and review it.
- 02
Methodology tutoring
Understand the options (quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods, sampling, instruments, ethics) and learn to justify the choices you make.
- 03
Statistics & qualitative analysis tutoring
Learn to choose tests, run them in SPSS, R or NVivo and interpret the output, in live sessions using your own data. For organisations and funded projects we also carry out analysis as consultants.
- 04
Literature search & review guidance
Search strategies, screening and synthesis methods explained, with feedback on how you structure and argue your review.
- 05
Thesis & dissertation mentoring
Chapter-planning sessions and written feedback on drafts you have written, the way a second reader would comment, through each round of revisions.
- 06
Proofreading & editing
Spelling, grammar, clarity, consistency and referencing format, marked with tracked changes and comments so you decide what to accept. We work within your institution's proofreading policy.
- 07
Presentation & viva coaching
Feedback on the structure, slides and delivery you have prepared for vivas, defences and conferences, with practice sessions and mock questions.
From first message to your first session
- 01
Tell us what you're working on
Your subject, level, deadline and what you want to understand or improve. A few lines on WhatsApp is enough.
- 02
We suggest the right support
Sessions, written feedback or proofreading, with a specialist in your field and a clear quote.
- 03
You learn and stay the author
You work with your specialist and do the writing and analysis for anything you submit. We review, explain and give feedback.
Academic integrity
You stay the author of everything you submit.
Our role is tutoring, guidance, feedback and proofreading. We don't write, complete or take part in assignments, essays, dissertations, theses, exams or any other work that will be submitted for assessment, and we don't supply answers or “model” work for submission. If a request crosses that line we'll say so, and we may decline or stop the work.
Many institutions set rules for proofreading and outside help. Tell us about yours and we'll work within it; if in doubt, check with your supervisor.
Questions
01Will you write my assignment, essay or dissertation?
No. We don't write, complete or take part in any work you'll submit for assessment. We help you do it well yourself: tutoring on methods and statistics, feedback on drafts you've written, and proofreading within your institution's rules.
02So what can you help with?
Understanding your research design and methods, learning to run and interpret analyses in SPSS, R or NVivo, planning chapters, getting written feedback on your drafts, proofreading, and preparing for a viva or presentation. Most students start with a free consultation.
03Which subjects and levels do you support?
Undergraduate, Master's and doctoral students, early-career researchers and organisations, in areas including business, law, nursing and health, engineering, the humanities and data science. Tell us your subject and level and we'll confirm we have the right specialist before you commit.
04How does proofreading work, and is it allowed?
We correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, consistency and referencing format using tracked changes and comments, so you see and decide on every change. We don't rewrite your arguments or add content. Many universities publish a proofreading policy; tell us about yours and we'll follow it.
05Can you do my statistical analysis?
For your own assessed work, we teach you to do it: choosing the right tests, running them with your data in live sessions and interpreting the output so you can explain and defend it. For organisations and funded research projects, we can also carry out the analysis as consultants.
06How do sessions work and how quickly can we start?
Online sessions at a time that suits you, plus written feedback between sessions where it helps. Message us on WhatsApp with your subject, level and deadline, and we'll suggest a plan and a quote, usually the same day.
07Is my information kept confidential?
Yes. Your details and your work are shared only with the specialist helping you and the services we use to run the practice (see our Privacy Policy).
